Dry January
If you’ve taken on the challenge of Dry January you’re not alone. The “official” Dry January started in 2012 in the United Kingdom when a public health initiative begun by Alcohol Change UK convinced thousands of people to give it a try. This year, it’s expected that 2 million people will participate worldwide. Are you?
According to the Harvard Health Publishing of Harvard Medical School even taking a short break from alcohol can help those who make this choice to feel more energetic, sleep better, and even lose weight. It’s not always easy though. During the initial days you might feel restless, shaky and anxious. Sleep may become more difficult before it gets better.
Jin Shin Jyutsu can be very helpful at times like this! Jin Shin Jyutsu can help calm the physical effects of eliminating alcohol from the body, giving the opportunity for greater success. The self-help component of Jin Shin Jyutsu where people use their own light touch for themselves to do this is a wonderful tool to stay on track.
For this month on Thursdays 6:30-7pm EST and Saturdays 4:30-5pm you can join me for a 30 minute self-help practice on Zoom. All you need to do is find a comfortable place to sit or lie, tune in with your video and microphone off, and practice with me. Simple!
Here’s what last week’s participants said:
"At first I was a bit squirmy and then I feel into such a peaceful state!” - Elizabeth M.
“I feel so relaxed now after that. I’ll definitely come back! I felt my body release a lot of tension.” - Rebecca P.
“I’ve noticed that my hips are much better after the session yesterday. Amazing!” - Leslie H.
Want to give it a try? Even if you’ve not dedicated yourself to Dry January, you’ll feel more relaxed and energized after. You can register here. The cost is only $10.
